Troubleshooting: Demo exams

  • Just like the real exams, the demo exams have settings that force the use of notebooks or mobile devices. If you have problems with internal screens, you will also encounter this problem in the real exam.
  • Solution (not a proven solution): Check driver settings of graphics card or monitor, adjust operating system, check active applications, change computer or choose another exam format.
  • Even in the demo exam, only one monitor is allowed.
  • Demo exams/old exams may show deviations from the current exam guidelines. This may occur in particular with regard to aids.
  • Demo exams are updated with lower priority than the real exams.
  • All networks are permitted in demo exams. (Real exams only allow networks of TUDa).

Troubleshooting: General

  • Watch out for new Safe Exam Browser versions. If a new Safe Exam Browser version appears, uninstall the old Safe Exam Browser version and then install the new Safe Exam Browser version. Restart the computer so that the old and new Safe Exam Browser services do not interfere with each other.
  • If a new Safe Exam Browser version is released shortly before the exam, the penultimate version is usually also accepted.
  • Before starting the Safe Exam Browser, check that a TUDa network is being used. Usually EDU-Roam with a local access point is used. Otherwise, the network to be used will be issued by the supervisor and the use of a network other than eduroam will be announced in the exam guidelines. - Check your network settings
  • eduroam password forgotten: Go to the IDM portal with another device, such as your smartphone or a supervisors device.
  • Launching the Safe Exam Browser from a VM is not allowed. See Terms of Use!
  • Safe Exam Browser starts with an error message (and is installed in the current version): Restart the computer - this often helps.
  • If updates to the operating system are pending, carry them out, especially if the Microsoft Dot-Netframework is affected.

Troubleshooting: Exam / Start of Exam

  • You can only start the exam when the set time has been reached. For example, refresh the web page by pressing F5 when the time window for processing the exam has started.
  • If errors occur when starting the Safe Exam Browser, press the „ok“ button first. If you still cannot start the Safe Exam Browser, call the invigilator.
