Datenschutz und Rechtliches

• SMOWL ist ein spanischer Anbieter für Fernaufsichtssoftware, die Datenverarbeitung findet auf AWS Servern statt. Diese Datenverarbeitung ist, aber seit 11. Juli 2023 durch einen Angemessenheitsbeschluss der EU Kommission gedeckt. 
• Sie können nur an der Fernaufsichtsprüfung mit SMOWL teilnehmen, wenn Sie eine Anmeldung durchgeführt haben oder Ihr Antrag zur Fernaufsichtsprüfung akzeptiert wurde.
• Sie können nur an der Fernaufsichtsprüfung mit SMOWL teilnehmen, wenn Sie die Nutzungsbedingungen (diese hier) und Prüfungsrichtlinien akzeptieren.
• SMOWL ist freigegeben zur freiwilligen Verwendung

Vorbereitungen und Verhaltensregeln während der SMOWL-Fernaufsichtsprüfung

• Während der Prüfung ist Reden nicht gestattet: 
  • Verhalten Sie sich wie bei einer Prüfung vor Ort.
  • Unaufgefordertes Reden kann Ihnen die Prüfungsleitung als Täuschungsversuch auslegen.
• Die frontale Kamera korrekt einstellen. Das betrifft vor allem folgende Punkte:
  • Die Aufnahme sollte das komplette Gesicht und einen Teil des Oberkörpers aufnehmen.
  • Die Aufnahme muss frontal sein.
  • Die Aufnahme muss gut beleuchtet sein. Achten Sie darauf, dass Rollläden, Lampen etc. im VORHINEIN korrekt eingestellt sind.
  • Testen Sie Ihr Computersetup mit einer Kamera-App bzw. einem Zoommeeting
  • Wenn die Aufnahmeregelungen nicht beachtet werden, dann kann dies als Täuschungsversuch ausgelegt werden oder zur Annullierung der Prüfung führen.
• Die Smartphone-Kamera ist korrekt einzustellen.
  • Das Blickfeld soll den Arbeitsbereich (Maus, Tastatur, Monitore und andere erlaubte Hilfsmittel) abdecken
  • Ihr Kopf ist seitlich zu sehen, es ist ausreichend, wenn Sie irgendwie erkennbar sind.
  • Die Position der Smartphone Kamera ist seitlich neben Ihnen üblicherweise, damit alle Anforderungen erfüllt werden können.
• Der Desktop ist zu teilen und wird aufgenommen.
• Empfehlung: Am besten ein zweites Eingabegerät bereit halten, für den Fall, dass das Erste nicht mehr funktioniert. Ansonsten sind Sie während der Prüfung unfähig, Eingaben zu tätigen.
• Empfehlung: Schreiben Sie die im Prüfungskurs ausgewiesene Hotline-Nummer für technische Probleme auf einen Zettel für den Fall einer Netzwerkunterbrechung.

Moodle und SMOWL:

• SMOWL wird Sie niemals automatisiert von der Prüfung ausschließen. Die Prüfungsleitung entscheidet über Täuschungsversuche. 
• Bei Verbindungsabrissen oder Ähnlichem: Sie können, wenn die Prüfungsleitung nichts anderes festlegt, die Prüfung immer wieder betreten bis die Prüfung abgegeben wurde.
• Sie müssen eine aktuelle Version eines gängigen Webbrowser verwenden. Beispielsweise
• Sie verpflichten sich das Programm CM, das Bestandteil von SMOWL ist zu installieren und dieses nicht zu manipulieren.
• Sie stimmen zu, dass SMOWL Aufzeichnungen von einer Webcam, dem Computermikrofon, dem Desktop, der Browserhistorie und der ausgeführten Programme während der Prüfung auf Ihrem Endgerät tätigt und mit einem symmetrischen Schlüssel vom Prüfungskurs verschlüsselt. Die verschlüsselten Daten werden in einem europäischen Rechenzentrum der Amazon Cloud aufbewahrt. Unverschlüsselten Zugriff auf diese Daten hat nur die Prüfungsleitung und die Administration für Fernaufsichtsprüfungen sowie die SMOWL Serverfarm in Spanien, welche das Postprocessing durchführt. Die prozessierten Daten werden wieder verschlüsselt in der Amazon Cloud hinterlegt und bleiben für den Cloudbetreiber weiterhin unbrauchbar.
• Sie stimmen zu das die Aufnahmen nach Täuschungsverdachtsfällen gefiltert werden und von der Prüfungsleitung untersucht werden. Eventuell belastendes Aufzeichnungsmaterial wird zur Beweisführung von Täuschungsverdachtsfällen verwendet.
• Beim Einsatz von SMOWL kann die Anzahl der Bildschirme beschränkt werden. Wenn in den Prüfungsrichtlinien diesbezüglich nichts geregelt ist, dann dürfen Sie mehrere Monitore verwenden,
• Das Deaktivieren von Webcam, Smartphone-Kamera oder Mikrofon während der Prüfung wird als Täuschungsversuch gewertet.
• Bei Ausfall von Webcam oder Smartphone-Cam oder Mikrofon wegen eines technischen Problems kann dies zur Annullierung des Prüfungsversuchs führen.
• Sie nehmen zur Kenntnis, das SMOWL wenig Feedback während der Prüfung über Verstöße gibt.  
• Alle Vorfälle werden im Nachgang analysiert. Alle Entscheidungen über den Ausgang legt die Prüfungsleitung fest.
• SMOWL wird Ihr Verhalten untersuchen und Auffälligkeiten markieren. Verhalten Sie sich unter Beachtung der zugelassenen Hilfsmittel angemessen. 
• SMOWL wird Protokollieren, wenn Sie sich aus dem Sichtfeld der Kameras entfernen. Die Prüfungsleitung wird mit den Protokollen abgleichen, ob die Abwesenheit genehmigt wurde.
• SMOWL wird Ihr Nutzerverhalten bezüglich Audiopegel, Gespräche und Interaktion mit dem Browser sowie Programmen untersuchen, um Anomalien festzustellen.
• SMOWL und Moodle Exam liefern der Prüfungsleitung Daten über Ihre Internetverbindung und ihren Standort. Wenn mehrere Personen über die gleiche Internetverbindung verbunden sind, dann werden diese Einreichungen besonders stark verglichen. 
• Die von SMOWL gesammelten Daten werden gelöscht sobald alle offenen Verfahren bezüglich: Täuschungsvorfälle, unter Vorbehalt erledigte Prüfungen und Widerspruchsverfahren abgeschlossen sind.
• Die gesammelten Verkehrsdaten und Logeinträge der Prüfungsinstanz von Moodle werden gelöscht, wenn alle Widerspruchsverfahren, Täuschungsvorfälle und unter Vorbehalt geschriebene Prüfungen aufgelöst sind.
• Einsicht in die von SMOWL gesammelten Daten ist bei der Prüfungsleitung zu beantragen.
• Die Einstellungen von SMOWL werden in den Prüfungsrichtlinien offen gelegt.

Begleitmeeting per Zoom und Hotline

• Als Rückkanal für technische Probleme kann ein Zoom Meeting eingerichtet werden und/oder eine Telefon-Hotline.
• Die Hotline ist reserviert für schwere Probleme, das heißt die Netzwerkverbindung ist derart zusammengebrochen, dass das Zoom-Meeting nicht betreten werden kann zur Problembehandlung.
• Die Prüfungsleitung kann in den Klausurrichtlinien festlegen, ob das Meeting verpflichtend ist oder freiwillig. Falls nichts geregelt, dann ist es freiwillig.
• Die Rückfragen sind per Chat einzureichen.
• Im Begleitmeeting ist, wenn nicht anders angeordnet ist die Kamera und das Mikrofon deaktiviert zu belassen.
• Das Begleitmeeting kann nur mit einem Zoom-Konto mit TU-Campus Lizenz betreten werden. Die Campuslizenz für Zoom wird über das HRZ eingerichtet: Zoom X HRZ
• Inhaltliche Rückfragen werden nur in Ausnahmefällen beantwortet. Verständnisfragen bezüglich der Aufgabenstellung werden beantwortet. Diese sind an die Prüfungsleitung zu richten mit Hilfe des Zoom-Chats.
• Ansagen während der Prüfung erfolgen per Zoom-Chat und es erfolgt gegebenenfalls ein mündlicher Hinweis auf den Chat zu achten.
• Die Prüfungsleitung behält sich vor Chatverläufe, Screenshots oder Videoausschnitte anzufertigen, wenn ein Täuschungsverdacht akut vorliegt.
• Bei individuellen Problemen durch äußere Einflüsse wie Baulärm oder Ähnliches ist die Aufsicht oder die Prüfungsleitung zu informieren, welche den Vorgang protokolliert. Die Prüfungsleitung entscheidet, wie weiterfahren wird.
• Toilettengänge sind bei der Prüfungsleitung durch den Zoom-Chat anzumelden und werden durch die Prüfungsleitung genehmigt oder in eine geordnete Reihenfolge gebracht. Melden Sie sich zurück, wenn Sie fertig sind.
• Allen Anordnungen bezüglich der Prüfung haben Sie nach Aufforderung unverzüglich Folge zu leisten.

Ausweiskontrolle

• Beachten Sie unbedingt: Der Registierungsprozess für SMOWL gilt für SMOWL Klausuren auch für Demoklausuren. Erledigen Sie die Registrierung immer gewissenhaft!
• Es wird einmalig zu Beginn der Testlaufs/Klausur ein Bild von Ihnen und Ihrem Lichtbildausweis aufgenommen.
• Die Kombination aus einer Videoaufnahmesequenz, Bild Ihres Gesichtes und Lichtbildausweis wird einmalig gegenseitig verglichen durch SMOWL. 
• Diese Kombination dient als Referenzmaterial um die Aufnahmen Ihrer Person während der Klausur zu vergleichen. Nach der Klausur erhält die Prüfungsleitung Rückmeldung über die Fälle, die nicht automatisiert positiv entschieden werden konnten und muss diese Sichten.
• Im Bedarfsfall wird ein nachträgliches Ausweiskontrollmeeting angeordnet. Dabei sind Studienausweis und amtlicher Lichtbildausweis vorzulegen. Das Meeting erfordert den Einsatz der Zoom-Campus-Lizenz. 

Erkrankungen

• Im Falle einer Erkrankung ist vor der Prüfung ist ein Attest einzureichen. Nachträgliche Abmeldungen können nicht berücksichtigt werden. Sollten Sie während der Prüfung erkranken, dann muss dies durch ein ärztliches Attest belegt werden.

Erklärungen

Mit betreten der Prüfung bestätigen Sie, die Einreichungen der Prüfung alleine und ohne Hilfe Dritter anzufertigen. Sie verwenden keine unerlaubten Hilfsmittel. Nähere Regelungen zu den Hilfsmitteln und Quellen sind in den Klausurrichtlinien einzusehen.

Data protection and legal matters

• SMOWL is a Spanish provider of remote supervision software, the data processing takes place on AWS servers. This data processing is covered by an adequacy decision of the EU Commission since 11 July 2023.
• You can only participate in the remote supervisory examination with SMOWL if you have completed a registration or your application for the remote supervisory examination has been accepted.
• You can only take part in the remote supervisory examination with SMOWL if you accept the terms of use (these here) and examination guidelines.
• SMOWL is released for voluntary use

Preparations and rules of behaviour during the SMOWL remote supervision exam

• Talking is not permitted during the exam:
• Behave as you would during an on-site examination.
• Speaking without being asked can be interpreted by the examiner as an attempt to cheat.
• Set up the front camera correctly. This applies in particular to the following points:
• The shot should include the entire face and part of the upper body.
• The shot must be frontal.
• The shot must be well lit. Make sure that shutters, lamps etc. are set correctly IN ADVANCE.
• Test your computer setup with a camera app or a Zoom meeting
• If the recording rules are not observed, this can be interpreted as an attempt to cheat or lead to the cancellation of the exam.
• The smartphone camera must be set correctly.
• The field of vision should cover the working area (mouse, keyboard, monitors and other permitted aids)
• Your head can be seen from the side, it is sufficient if you are somehow recognisable.
• The position of the smartphone camera is usually to the side of you so that all requirements can be met.
• The desktop is to be shared and is recorded.
• Recommendation: It is best to have a second input device ready in case the first one stops working. Otherwise you will be unable to make entries during the exam.
• Recommendation: Write down the hotline number for technical problems provided in the exam course on a piece of paper in case of a network interruption.

Moodle and SMOWL:

• SMOWL will never automatically exclude you from the exam. The examination centre will decide on attempts to cheat.
• In the event of disconnections or similar: Unless the exam organiser decides otherwise, you can re-enter the exam at any time until the exam has been handed in.
• You must use a current version of a common web browser. For example
• You undertake to install the CM programme, which is part of SMOWL, and not to manipulate it.
• You agree that SMOWL will make recordings of a webcam, computer microphone, desktop, browser history and programmes executed during the exam on your end device and encrypt them with a symmetric key from the exam course. The encrypted data is stored in a European data centre in the Amazon Cloud. Only the examination management and the administration for remote supervisory examinations as well as the SMOWL server farm in Spain, which carries out the post-processing, have unencrypted access to this data. The processed data is stored in encrypted form in the Amazon cloud and remains unusable for the cloud operator.
• You agree that the recordings will be filtered for suspected cases of cheating and analysed by the examination management. Any incriminating recording material will be used as evidence in cases of suspected cheating.
• When using SMOWL, the number of monitors can be limited. If nothing is specified in the examination guidelines, you may use multiple monitors,
• Deactivating the webcam, smartphone camera or microphone during the exam will be categorised as an attempt to cheat.
• Failure of the webcam or smartphone cam or microphone due to a technical problem may result in cancellation of the examination attempt.
• You acknowledge that SMOWL will provide little feedback during the exam about any offences.
• All incidents are analysed afterwards. All decisions on the outcome are made by the examination management.
• SMOWL will examine your behaviour and highlight any anomalies. Behave appropriately in compliance with the authorised aids.
• SMOWL will record if you leave the field of vision of the cameras. The audit manager will check the logs to see if the absence was authorised.
• SMOWL will examine your user behaviour with regard to audio levels, conversations and interaction with the browser and programs in order to detect anomalies.
• SMOWL and Moodle Exam provide the exam centre with data about your internet connection and your location. If several people are connected via the same internet connection, then these submissions will be compared particularly closely.
• The data collected by SMOWL will be deleted as soon as all open procedures regarding: cheating incidents, conditionally completed examinations and appeal procedures have been completed.
• The traffic data and log entries collected by the Moodle examination centre will be deleted once all objection procedures, incidents of cheating and conditional examinations have been resolved.
• Access to the data collected by SMOWL must be requested from the examination centre.
• The settings of SMOWL are disclosed in the examination guidelines.

Support meeting via Zoom and hotline

• A Zoom meeting and/or a telephone hotline can be set up as a feedback channel for technical problems.
• The hotline is reserved for serious problems, i.e. the network connection has broken down to such an extent that the Zoom meeting cannot be accessed for troubleshooting.
• The exam management can specify in the exam guidelines whether the meeting is mandatory or voluntary. If nothing is specified, then it is voluntary.
• Questions are to be submitted via chat.
• Unless otherwise instructed, the camera and microphone must be left deactivated in the accompanying meeting.
• The accompanying meeting can only be accessed with a Zoom account with a TU-Campus licence. The campus licence for Zoom is set up via the HRZ: Zoom X HRZ
• Questions regarding content will only be answered in exceptional cases. Questions of understanding regarding the task will be answered. These are to be addressed to the exam proctor using the Zoom chat.
• Announcements during the exam will be made via Zoom chat and, if necessary, a verbal reminder will be given to pay attention to the chat.
• The examination management reserves the right to take chat histories, screenshots or video clips if there is an acute suspicion of cheating.
• In the event of individual problems due to external influences such as construction noise or similar, the invigilator or the examination management must be informed, who will record the process. The examination supervisor will decide how to proceed.
• Toilet visits must be registered with the examination centre via Zoom chat and will be approved or put in an orderly sequence by the examination centre. Report back when you have finished.
• You must comply with all instructions regarding the examination immediately upon request.

Identity check

• Please note: The registration process for SMOWL also applies to SMOWL exams for demo exams. Always complete the registration conscientiously!
• A picture of you and your photo ID will be taken once at the start of the test run/exam.
• The combination of a video recording sequence, picture of your face and photo ID will be compared once by SMOWL.
• This combination serves as reference material to compare the recordings of your person during the exam. After the exam, the exam management receives feedback on the cases that could not be automatically decided in favour and must review them.
• If necessary, a subsequent ID check meeting will be organised. Student ID and official photo ID must be presented. The meeting requires the use of the Zoom Campus licence.

Illnesses

• In the event of illness, a medical certificate must be submitted before the examination. Subsequent cancellations cannot be considered. If you fall ill during the examination, this must be documented by a doctor's certificate.

Declarations

By entering the examination, you confirm that you will complete the submissions for the examination on your own and without the help of third parties. You will not use any unauthorised aids. More detailed regulations on aids and sources can be found in the examination guidelines.

The SMOWL remote supervision application becomes visible in the exam course once you have selected remote supervision. If you are not satisfied with SMOWL, you can reverse your choice and opt for a different form of supervision.

Once remote supervision is activated, you will have access to the SMOWL block in the right sidebar, which leads you to the SMOWL panel. In the exam activity or in the prescribed technical trial run, the SMOWL block will display the control indicators and controls for SMOWL.

At TUDa, SMOWL is operated with the following settings:

SMOWL Panel

Using SMOWL starts with accessing the SMOWL Panel. Here, the essential features are summarized by the manufacturer. The panel can be found in the second section of exam courses on moodle-exam. In the panel, you will register and download the computer monitoring software.

Be sure to read the registration section before proceeding.

Note: If you have studied the manufacturer’s site, you may encounter a browser extension that is typically not used at TUDa; instead, the CM application is always used.

Registration

For a remote proctored exam, it is essential to verify your identity beforehand. The registration must be completed before the exam.
A photo of your face will be taken, meeting the standards for biometric identification.
A photo of your official identification card will also be taken. Acceptable official IDs include: ID card, driver’s license, residence permit, supplementary ID, government service ID, weapon permits, and student IDs with a photo.
Unauthorized IDs include, in particular, the Athene card, study cards, and health insurance cards.
It is sufficient if the two photos are taken and uploaded before the exam. The comparison between the two photos does not need to be completed before the exam starts. It is enough if the comparison between your photo and the official ID is completed after the exam.

Important! Complete the registration carefully. It usually lasts for 2 semesters.

Start Registration

Navigate to "Register" in the SMOWL Panel to begin the registration process. Note: As of September 2024, start the registration in a new tab.

Without opening a new tab, the browser function to detect connected cameras will not be triggered, and the registration cannot be completed. The SMOWL development team is aware and working on an improvement.

Important! Complete the registration carefully. It cannot be repeated on your own.

Computer Monitoring - Install and Run SMOWL CM

This application must be running during the exam. Grant the program the necessary permissions. The download and an introduction are available at: https://help.smowltech.net/en/articles/8267016-downloading-and-installing-smowl-cm The software documents the use of the computer and helps avoid accidental cheating attempts through negligence. Close all unnecessary programs and services.

Before the Exam

By regulation, all allowed aids are described in the exam guidelines. Conversely, only actions permitted by the exam guidelines or needed to resolve technical problems are allowed. This means especially closing all processes and programs that facilitate communication. These include all chats, voice chats, screen recordings, email clients, collaboration tools, and screenshot tools. Since it is impossible to close everything before an exam, you must assess if starting a program, using a website, or taking any action on the computer might be interpreted as cheating or provide you or others with an unfair advantage. For example, accessing a Zoom update or adjusting display settings does not give you an advantage as these might be necessary actions.

During the Exam

The SMOWL Moodle plugin will request that the CM program be started in the web browser during an exam with SMOWL. Allow this request and confirm that CM can restart automatically during the active exam if necessary. CM must not be terminated during the exam. If your control indicators show a CM failure, restart it manually if you refused the automatic restart.

After the Exam

The recorded events are reviewed and, in cases of suspicion, are considered in context with the other recordings and exam guidelines to determine further actions. The exam board, in unclear cases, is advised by the university law department and the e-exam team. The review is fair. There are no automated decisions against exam participants; only positive ones.

Technical Demo Exam is Required

You can repeat the technical demo exam as often as you want!
Test until everything works and you feel well-prepared.

• Without a demo run, you cannot enter the exam.
• The technical demo includes a tutorial on using SMOWL and Moodle question types.
• Test the computer you plan to use for the exam.
• Test the stability of the internet connection.
• Check if lighting needs adjustment.
• Test backup computers if applicable.
• All SMOWL modules must function: front camera, external camera, CM.
• Consider in advance what you might need to change on your chosen device to avoid recording.
• Without a demo run, support may be denied.

Differences Between Demo Exams and Real Exams with SMOWL

The SMOWL test mode, introduced in fall 2024, is a great concept because:

• ... you can test as many times as needed.
• ... only a few pictures are stored at the beginning of the demo for testing purposes.
• ... only a few events from CM are transmitted at the beginning of the demo.
• ... only a microphone recording is kept.
• ... no one will review the recordings.

Use the QR code to use an iOS or Android device as a workplace camera. Be sure to rotate smartphones to landscape mode. When the third symbol (smartphone) no longer shows a loading bar, everything is functioning. Allow the web browser to start the CM software when prompted. If CM works correctly, the window "System active" will be visible, and the notebook symbol will no longer show a loading bar.

General Notes

• Ensure your device for the second camera is sufficiently charged or connected to a power source.

• Never close SMOWL before submitting your exam, always do so afterward.

Die SMOWL Fernaufsichtsanwendung wird im Prüfungskurs sichtbar sobald Sie die Fernaufsicht gewählt haben.
Wenn Ihnen SMOWL nicht zusagt, dann können Sie Ihre Wahl rückgängig machen und eine andere Durchführungsform wählen.

Wenn Sie Fernaufsicht eingestellt, dann bekommen Sie im rechten Seitenpanel Zugriff auf den SMOWL Block, der Sie in das SMOWL Panel leitet. In der Prüfungsaktivität beziehungsweise im vorgeschriebenen technischen Demolauf werden im SMOWL Block, die Kontrollanzeigen und Bedienelemente von SMOWL angezeigt.

An der TUDa wird SMOWL mit folgenden Einstellungen betrieben:

SMOWL Panel

Die Nutzung von SMOWL beginnt mit dem Aufrufen des SMOWL Panels. Hier werden die wichtigsten Funktionen herstellerseitig zusammengefasst. Das Panel ist im zweiten Bereich von Prüfungskursen auf moode-exam zu finden. In dem Panel registrieren Sie sich und laden die Computer Monitoring Software herunter. ng)

Lesen Sie unbedingt den Absatz Registrierung durch bevor Sie diese Ausführen.

Hiweis: Wenn Sie Herstellerseite studiert haben, dann stoßen auf eine Browser Extension, die an der TUDa üblicherweise nicht verwendet wird, stattdessen wird immer die Applikation CM verwendet.

Registrierung

Für eine Fernaufsichtsprüfung ist es unerlässlich sich im Vorfeld auszuweisen. Die Registrierung muss Ihrer durchlaufen sein vor der Prüfung. Es wird in der Registrierung eine Photografie Ihres Gesichts angefertigt, die den Standards für biometrische Ausweise genügt. Es wird eine Fotografie Ihres amtlichen Lichtbildausweises angefertigt. Amtliche Lichtbildausweise sind: Personalausweis, Führerschein, Aufenthaltstitel, Ergänzungsausweis, staatliche Dienstausweise, Waffenscheine und Studierendenausweise mit Lichtbild.
Keine zulässigen Ausweise sind insbesondere die Athene Karte, der Studienausweis und Krankenkassenkarten.
Es genügt, wenn die beiden Fotografien vor der Prüfung angefertigt und hinterlegt wurden. Der Vergleich zwischen beiden Fotografien muss bei Prüfungsbeginn nicht abgeschlossen sein. Es ist ausreichend, wenn der Vergleich zwischen Ihrer Fotografie und dem amtlichen Lichtbildausweis erst nach der Prüfung abgeschlossen sein wird.

Wichtig! Erledigen Sie die Registrierung sorgfältig. Sie gilt üblicherweise 2 Semester.

Ohne die Verwendung eines neuen Tabs wird die Webbrowserfunktion zur Erkennung angeschlossener Kameras nicht ausgelöst und die Registrierung kann nicht durchgeführt werden. Das SMOWL Entwicklerteam ist informiert und arbeitet an einer Verbesserung.

Wichtig! Erledigen Sie die Registrierung sorgfältig. Sie kann nicht selbstständig wiederholt werden.

Computer Monitoring - SMOWL CM installieren und betreiben

Diese Applikation muss während der Prüfung laufen. Geben Sie dem Programm die notwendigen Rechte. Der Download und eine Einführung ist unter: https://help.smowltech.net/en/articles/8267016-downloading-and-installing-smowl-cm abrufbar. Die Software dokumentiert die Verwendung des Computers und vermeiden Sie unabsichtliche Täuschungsversuche durch Nachlässigkeiten. Beenden Sie alle nicht benötigten Programme und Dienste.

Vor Start der Prüfung

Nach Reglement werden alle zugelassenen Hilfsmittel in den Prüfungsrichtlinien beschrieben. Im Umkehrschluss sind nur Handlungen erlaubt, die durch die Prüfungsrichtlienien gedeckt sind oder zum beseitigen von technischen Problemen benötigt werden. Das bedeutet insbesondere alle Prozesse und Programme zu schließen, die der Kommunikation dienen. Darunter fallen grundsätzlich alle Chats, Voicechats, Screencasts, Emails-Clients, Kolllaborationstools und Screenshotstools.
Da es vor einer Prüfung unmöglich ist alles zu, müssen Sie selbst beurteilen, wenn Sie ein Programm starten oder eine Webseite verwenden oder eine andere Handlung am Computer vornehmen, ob diese Ihnen als Täuschungsversuch ausgelegt bzw. Ihnen oder anderen Prüfungsteilnehmenden keinen Vorteil verschafft. Beispielsweise haben Sie keinen Vorteil vom Abruf eines Zoom-Updates oder der Anzeigeeinstellungen und Ähnliche, weil dies möglicherweise sogar notwendige Handlungen sind.

Während der Prüfung

Das SMOWL Moodle Plugin wird bei einer Prüfung mit SMOWL den Webbrowser den Start des Programm CM anfragen. Lassen Sie diese Anfrage zu und bestätigen Sie auch, dass CM selbstständig während der aktiven Prüfung neugestartet werden darf, falls dies nötig ist.
CM darf nicht während der beendet werden.
Falls Ihre Kontrollanzeigen einen Ausfall von CM anzeigen sollten, dann starten Sie es manuell neu, wenn Sie die Automatik verweigert haben.

Nach der Prüfung**

Die einzelnen aufgezeichneten Ereignisse werden gesichtet und im Verdachtsfall im Kontext der restlichen Aufzeichnungen und Prüfungsrichtlinien für eine Entscheidungsfindung für weitere Massnahmen herangezogen. Der Prüfungsleitung bei nicht eindeutigen Fällen beraten durch das Referat Hochschulrecht und des E-Prüfungsteams.
Die Sichtung ist fair.
Es gibt keine automatisierte Entscheidungen gegen Prüfungsteilnehmende nur positive.

Technische Demoprüfung ist vorgeschrieben

Sie dürfen die technische Demoprüfung so oft wiederholen, wie möchten!
Testen Sie bis alles funktioniert und sich gut vorbereitet fühlen.

• Ohne Testlauf dürfen Sie die Prüfung nicht betreten.
• Die technische Demoprüfung beinhaltet ein Tutorial zur Verwendung von SMOWL und für Moodle Aufgabentypen.
• Testen Sie den Computer den Sie in der Prüfung verwenden wollen.
• Testen Sie die Stabiliät der Inernetverbindung.
• Schauen Sie, ob die Beleuchtung angepasst werden muss.
• Testen Sie auch eventuelle Ausweichcomputer.
• Alle Module von SMOWL müssen funktionieren: Frontal Kamera, externe Kamera, CM
• Überlegen Sie vor der Prüfung was Sie am ausgewählten ändern müssen oder sollten, weil es nicht aufgezeichnet werden soll.
• Ohne Testlauf kann Ihnen der Support verweigert werden.

Unterschiede zwischen Demoprüfungen und echten Prüfungen mit SMOWL

Der Testmodus für SMOWL der im Herbst 2024 eingeführt wurde ist ein sehr gutes Konzept, weil

Starten der Technischen Demoprüfung bzw. Prüfung

Navigieren Sie in die Demoprüfung oder Prüfung. Klappen Sie die rechte Blockleiste auf, damit der SMOWL Block angezeigt wird:

Es wird im SMOWL Block auf der rechten Seite nun ungefähr folgendes angezeigt:

Verwenden Sie den QR Code, um ein IOS oder Android Gerät als Arbeitsplatzkamera zu verwenden. Bitte insbesondere Smartphones in den Landscape Mode drehen. Wenn das dritte Symbol (Smartphone) keine Ladebalken mehr symboliert, dann funktioniert alles.
Lassen Sie den Webbrowser die Software CM starten, wenn Sie dazu aufgefordert werden. Wenn CM ordnungsgemäß funktioniert, dann ist das Fenster "System active" zu sehen und das Symbol mit dem Notebook hat keinen Ladebalken mehr.

Technische Demoprüfung mit Tutorial!

Allgemeine Hinweise

• Achten Sie darauf, dass Ihr Gerät für die zweite Kamera genügend geladen ist oder schließen Sie es an eine Stromquelle an.
• Schalten Sie auch den „Nicht stören“-Modus oder einen anderen ähnlichen Modus ein.
• Schließen Sie SMOWL niemals vor Abgabe Ihrer Prüfung, sondern immer erst danach.
• Sie können SMOWL während der Prüfung minimieren, damit Sie nicht davon gestört werden.

Terms of use for SMOWL remote supervision exam

Terms of use of the operator E-Learning Group

• SMOWL is a Spanish provider of remote supervision software, whose data processing takes place on AWS servers. This data processing is covered by an adequacy decision of the EU Commission since 11 July 2023.
• You can only take the Remote Supervision exam with SMOWL if you have completed a registration or if your application for the Remote Supervision exam has been accepted.
• You can only take the SMOWL remote supervision exam if you accept the terms of use (here) and the exam guidelines.
• SMOWL is released for voluntary use. For some Master's entrance exams, its use is strongly recommended.

Preparation and behaviour during the SMOWL remote supervision exam

• No talking is allowed during the exam:
  • Behave as you would during an on-site examination.
  • Unprompted talking may be interpreted by the examiner as an attempt to cheat.
• Adjust the front camera correctly. Pay particular attention to the following points:
  • The shot should include the whole face and part of the upper body.
  • The shot must be frontal.
  • The shot must be well lit. Make sure shutters, lights, etc. are set correctly beforehand.
  • Test your computer setup with a camera application or zoom session
  • Failure to follow the recording rules may be interpreted as an attempt to cheat or may result in the exam being cancelled.
• The smartphone camera must be set correctly.
  • The field of view should cover the work area (mouse, keyboard, monitors and other permitted aids).
  • Your head can be seen from the side, it is sufficient if you are recognisable in some way.
  • The position of the smartphone camera is usually to the side of you, so that all requirements can be met.
  • The desktop is to be shared and recorded.
• Recommendation: It is best to have a second input device in case the first one stops working. Otherwise you will not be able to type during the exam.
• Recommendation: Write down on a piece of paper the technical support hotline number provided in the course in the event of a network failure.

Moodle and SMOWL:

• SMOWL will never automatically disqualify you from an exam. Any attempts on cheating will be decided by the exam administrator.
• In the event of a disconnection or similar: You will always be able to re-enter the exam until the exam has been submitted, unless the exam administrator decides otherwise.
• You must be using a Chromium-based browser. Examples: Chrome, Edge, Chromium,...
• You agree to install and not tamper with SMOWL.
• You agree that SMOWL will record your webcam, computer microphone, desktop, browser history and programs executed on your device during the exam and encrypt them with a symmetric key from the exam course. The encrypted data is stored in a European data centre in the Amazon cloud. Only the Exam Administration and Remote Vigilance Administration and the SMOWL server farm in Spain, which performs the post-processing, have unencrypted access to this data. The processed data is stored in encrypted form in the Amazon cloud and is not available to the cloud operator. *You agree that the recordings may be filtered for suspected cheating and reviewed by the Examination Office. Any incriminating recorded material will be used as evidence in cases of suspected cheating.
• When using SMOWL, the number of screens may be limited. If not specified in the examination guidelines, you may use multiple monitors.
• Turning off your webcam, smartphone camera or microphone during the exam will be considered an attempt to cheat.
• If the webcam, smartphone camera or microphone fails due to a technical problem, this may result in the exam attempt being cancelled.
• You acknowledge that SMOWL gives little feedback about cheating during the exam.
• All incidents will be analysed afterwards. All decisions regarding the outcome will be made by the exam administration.
• SMOWL will review your behaviour and highlight any anomalies. Behave appropriately in accordance with the permitted assistive devices.
• SMOWL will record if you move out of the field of view of the cameras. The auditor will check the logs to see if the absence was authorised.
• SMOWL will examine your user behaviour in terms of audio levels, conversations and interaction with the browser and programs to detect anomalies.
• SMOWL and Exam Moodle provide information about your internet connection and location to the exam administration. If several people are using the same internet connection, their submissions will be compared particularly closely.
• The data collected by SMOWL will be deleted once any outstanding cases of cheating, conditionally passed exams and appeals have been resolved.
• The traffic data and log entries collected by the Moodle examination instance will be deleted once all appeals, incidents of cheating and conditional examinations have been resolved.
• Access to the data collected by SMOWL must be requested from the Examination Office.
• The settings for SMOWL are published in the Examination Guidelines.

Support meeting via Zoom and hotline

• A Zoom meeting and/or telephone hotline can be set up as a feedback channel for technical problems.
• Zoom is used only on the computer where you take the exam.
• The hotline is reserved for serious problems, i.e. where the network connection is so poor that the Zoom meeting cannot be accessed for troubleshooting.
• The examiner can specify in the exam guidelines whether the meeting is mandatory or voluntary. If nothing is specified, it is voluntary.
• Questions must be submitted via chat.
• Unless otherwise instructed, the camera and microphone must be switched off in the support meeting.
• For TU Darmstadt Students: You must have a Zoom account with a TU Campus licence to join the support meeting. The campus licence for Zoom is set up via the HRZ: Zoom X HRZ
• For TU Darmstadt Applicants: Install Zoom APP and use your real name in the meeting. You´re still no TU Darmstadt students, so you won´t be able to have a TU Campus lincence, yet. But this is for an entrance exam not necessary.
• Questions about content will only be answered in exceptional cases. Questions of understanding will be answered. These should be addressed to the examiner via Zoom chat.
• Announcements during the examination will not be done in the Zoom meeting, this is done via moodle directly in a red box above the tasks.
• The invigilator reserves the right to take chat histories, screenshots or video clips if there is a strong suspicion of cheating.
• In the case of individual problems caused by external factors such as construction noise, etc., the invigilator or the board of examiners must be informed and they will record the incident. The chief examiner will decide how to proceed.
• Toilet visits must be reported to the proctor via Zoom Chat and will be approved or arranged by the proctor. Report back when you return on your desk/exam.
• You must comply with all instructions relating to the assessment immediately upon request.

Identity check

• Please note: The SMOWL registration process also applies to SMOWL demo exams. Always complete the registration carefully!
• The registration is available if you have signed up for the remotely supervised exam in step 2.
• A photograph of you and your photo ID will be taken once at the start of the test/exam.
• The combination of a video recording sequence, picture of your face and photo ID will be compared once by SMOWL.
• This combination is used as a reference material to compare the footage of you during the exam. After the examination, the examiner receives feedback on the cases that could not be decided positively automatically and must review them.
• If necessary, a follow-up ID verification session will be arranged. Student ID and official photo ID must be presented. The meeting requires the use of the Zoom Campus licence.

Illnesses

• In case of illness, a medical certificate must be presented before the exam. Cancellations at a later date will not be considered. If you fall ill during the exam, you must provide a doctor's certificate. This is for regular TUDa students.
• Illness of applicants: you need to reaply for the next semester.
• Candidates who are in quarantine will be asked to sit the exam by remote invigilation only.

By entering the exam, you confirm that you will complete the submissions for the exam alone and without the assistance of others. You will not use any unauthorised aids. More detailed rules on aids and sources can be found in the Examination Guidelines.

Exam Preparations

This text has another focus as the general description of the examination process in detail. The focus of this text is to outline the necessary steps to be fully prepared for the exam.

Before the exam

1. Having marked all readings as read.
2. Having done a demonstration exam!

3. Registration of ID Card is done
4. Use wired networks if possible instead WLAN
5. Inform your roommates or family members or others not to disturb you and to spare the networks.
6. Ensure even illumination of the face, i.e. switch on indirect light and darken windows if there is a lot of light coming from the sides

Some hours before the exam

1. Restart your computer early enough to handle updates from OS or applications
2. Tidy up your desk before the exam starts
3. Ensure that you have quiet room where you are alone

Start of the Exam

1. Enter the exam by using the test activity
2. Something doesn´t work? Then goto Troubleshooting SMOWL (en)
3. Support hotline is reserved for hard network issues. That means you tried out the trouble shooting and you get no connection. If you´re blocking the support hotline, when Zoom chat with support is possible, then the phone call will be aborted. If you are breaking this rule to often, then your case will be discussed after the exam and

Zoom Meeting

1. Enter the meeting before the exam starts or at least if gets neccessary during the exam-
2. The Zoom meeting will start before the exam where, according to the announcement, the exam director and TU support staff will be waiting to discuss any final questions. If necessary, the exam director will also address you briefly
3. Disable microphones and webcams for the Zoom meeting (don’t disable it for SMOWL)
4. All inquiries, responses, and announcements will be made through chat
5. Break out rooms will be used as needed to discuss things oraly or having a screen sharing session
6. Rules of the Meeting:

• Write to the Examination Head for any questions regarding the assignments. This will be a person with “[head of examination] in the name
• For a registration to use the restroom, write to the person with “[restroom management]”(or mutatis mutandis) in the name
• For technical problems write to persons with “[Support]" in their name
• Address other requests to the persons with “[Support]" in their name
• If the environment of the examination room is disruptive, please contact a person with “[Support]" in the name. If necessary, further clarification will be required by the examination management
• Call the person with “[phone hotline]" in their name via phone or write to them in the aftermath of network crashes or reports for logging

Behavior during the exam

• During the exam, the microphone and the webcam for the SMOWL CM and Webapplication in must remain switched on.
• The exam guidelines and the terms of use must be followed, as well as the instructions of the proctor and the exam administration
• During the exam, behave as if you were taking the exam on site
