Exam Preparations

Before the exam

  1. Have you taken a demonstration exam?
  2. ID card registration is done
  3. Use wired networks instead of WLAN if possible
  4. Inform your roommates or family members or others not to disturb you and to spare the networks.
  5. Ensure that your face is evenly lit, i.e. turn on indirect lighting and darken windows if there is a lot of light coming in from the sides.

Some hours before the exam

  1. Restart your computer early enough to handle any operating system or application updates.
  2. Clear your desk before the exam starts
  3. Make sure you have a quiet room where you can be alone

Starting the exam

  1. Enter the exam using the Test Activity
  2. Something doesn't work? Go to Troubleshooting SMOWL (en)

Zoom Meeting

  1. Enter the meeting before the exam starts, or at least if it becomes necessary during the exam. 2.The zoom meeting will start before the exam, where the announcement will say that the invigilator and TU support staff will be waiting to discuss any final questions. If necessary, the invigilator will also address you briefly.
  2. Turn off microphones and webcams for the Zoom meeting (do not turn them off for SMOWL).
  3. All questions, answers and announcements will be made via chat.
  4. Breakout rooms will be used as needed for verbal discussion or screen sharing.
  5. Rules of the meeting:
  • Write to the Examiner if you have any questions about the assignments. This will be a person with “[head of examination] in their name.
  • For a registration to use the restroom, write to the person with “[restroom management]”(or similar) in their name.
  • For technical problems, write to the people with “[Support]" in their name.
  • For other requests, contact the person with “[Support]" in their name.
  • If the environment of the exam room is disruptive, please contact someone with “[Support]" in their name. If further clarification is required by the admin team.
  • Call or write to the person with "[phone hotline]" in their name in the event of network crashes or reports for logging.

Behaviour during the exam

  • During the exam, the microphone and webcam for the Proctorio plug-in must remain switched on.
  • You must follow the exam guidelines and terms of use, as well as any instructions given by the proctor and the exam administration.
  • During the exam, you must behave as if you were taking the exam in person / on-side.
